The journal is where you write down what you did with the birds — feed, supplements, flight, weather, treatments. It is built for how a loft book is actually kept: twice a day, quickly, with dirty hands.
One entry per half-day
A day has Morning and Evening. The app picks the half you are most likely to want: if the morning is already written, it opens on the evening, and the other way round. When neither is written — or both are — the clock decides, at 13:00. You can change it whenever you like.
An entry is keyed by loft + compartment + date + half-day. You cannot have two entries on the same key: if you try, the app opens the entry that already exists instead of writing a second one. You will not find out a month later that you have two versions of the same morning.
A compartment left empty means "the whole loft" — not "I don't know". It is a value, not a gap.
The fields are yours
The eleven fields are free text, with no fixed lists. We did not invent a fancier's vocabulary for you: you write "corn + wheat", "vitamins", "40 min loft flying" — your words, in your language.
So that you are not retyping the same things twice a day for ever, each field shows suggestions from your own history — what you have written in that field before, most recent first. Tap one and it fills in. The suggestions narrow nothing: you can always write something else.
Searching the suggestions ignores diacritics. If you once saved Sănătate, you find it by typing sa.
Carrying yesterday forward
When you start a new entry for the same loft, compartment and half-day, the fields arrive pre-filled from the day before — because the routine repeats and most days look like each other. You change the ones that differ.
One exception: notes are not carried forward. A note belongs to its own day.
Other things worth knowing
- A completely empty entry is not saved. An empty row would take the day's key and collide later with the real entry.
- The list groups days by date, newest first; within a day, evening sits above morning.
- A loft that has journal entries cannot be deleted, and the message tells you the journal is the reason.
- If you move an entry onto a day that already has that half-day, you are told — nothing is silently written over.
Export
Settings → Export journal (CSV) takes everything out: one row per entry, with the loft, the date, the half-day, the compartment, the eleven fields and the notes. The loft column holds the loft's name, not an identifier. Dates are YYYY-MM-DD, and the half-day is written morning / evening — untranslated, on purpose, so the file reads the same in any program.
It imports back through Settings → Import journal (CSV), with a preview before anything is saved: you see how many rows will go in and how many have problems, and a row that would collide with an existing entry is refused to your face rather than written over the top.
