Health

Vaccinations, treatments, medications — each has a moment, a product, and sometimes a date it has to be repeated. ThatPigeon keeps them all in one place, with reminders.

Add a health event

  1. Open the Health tab and press New health event (+).
  2. Choose the Scope:
    • One bird — an event for a single bird, picked from your list
    • Whole loft — an event for the whole loft
  3. Choose the Type: vaccination, medication, treatment or note.
  4. Fill in the fields:
Field What goes in it Required?
Product The name of the medication or vaccine, e.g. "Paramyxo" No
Batch number The serial number on the bottle No
Date When it was given (today by default) Yes
Next due When it has to be repeated No
Notes Anything else worth recording No
  1. Press Save.

Reminders

Fill in Next due and ThatPigeon sets a local reminder. As the date approaches, the event appears under Upcoming on the health screen, coloured by urgency:

  • Green — scheduled, there is time
  • Yellow — coming up
  • Red — overdue, act on it

The app asks for notification permission the first time you set a reminder.

The health screen

The health list is in two sections:

  • Upcoming — events with a reminder date in the future, or overdue, in date order
  • History — everything else, newest first

Each card shows the product (or the type, if you left the product empty), the kind of event, and the date. Loft events are labelled "Whole loft".

Pull to refresh updates the list.

The event's page

Tap any event for the full detail: type, bird or loft, product, batch number (in a monospaced font), the date it was given, the next due date (coloured), and the notes.

From there you can also delete the event, with a confirmation.

Why the batch number matters

If a vet asks you to prove a vaccination, or a batch of medication is recalled, you have the exact serial written down. It is not required, but it is good practice — it takes five seconds.

Per bird or per loft

  • Per bird — an individual treatment, an antibiotic for one sick bird.
  • Per loft — something that affects every bird: the spring vaccination, a general worming. It shows on the health screen but not on any single bird's page.

A tip

Remembered the worming? Create a "Worming" event dated today and set Next due three months out. When it turns red you know it is time — no separate calendar, no note stuck to the fridge.
