How to import Benzing files

Every race Saturday is the same: the birds come home, the Benzing clock records the times, and you want it all saved properly, with velocities and positions. Here is how you do that in ThatPigeon.

Where the file comes from

If you use a Benzing clock (G2, M1, Club), the arrivals sync through Benzing Live on a computer. The software writes a CSV file with the arrival times — usually in the Benzing application's export folder.

The file holds:

  • each bird's ring number
  • the exact arrival time, to the millisecond: 08:06:25.107
  • the race date
  • other technical details

Importing into ThatPigeon

  1. Get the CSV onto your phone — by email, on WhatsApp, or by connecting the phone to the computer.
  2. Open ThatPigeon, then Settings → Import birds (CSV).
  3. Choose the Benzing file.

ThatPigeon recognises the Benzing format on its own and shows you:

  • New birds — if a ring in the file is not yours yet, it is created for you.
  • Already exist (skipped) — the birds you already have, skipped rather than duplicated.
  • Race results — the arrivals, attached to the birds automatically.
  1. Check the preview and confirm the import.

After the import

The results appear on each bird under its races. If you have set the race distance, ThatPigeon works out the velocity in m/min for you.

A tip

Do this every weekend and after a few months you have a complete record for every bird — ready to put on a pedigree or take to the club. No more results notebook.
