Races are the heart of the sport. ThatPigeon keeps a record of every race and every result — whether you type them in or import them from your clock's files.
Add a race
- Open the Races tab and press New race (+).
- Choose between Race and Training.
- Fill in:
| Field | Race | Training |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes (required) | Yes (required) |
| Release date | Yes | Yes |
| Release time | Optional | Optional |
| Distance (km) | Yes | Yes |
| Organizer | Optional | — |
| Level | Club / Zonal / County / National / International | Set to training |
- Save.
Add results
On the race's page, press Add result:
- Pick the bird from your list.
- Enter the arrival time — the field takes electronic timing (ETS) format:
08:06:25.107, hours:minutes:seconds.milliseconds. Twelve characters at most, in a large monospaced font, readable with dirty hands. - Optional: Position (where it placed) and Field size (how many flew).
Calculated for you
If you have filled in the race distance and the arrival time, ThatPigeon works out, as you type:
- Velocity (m/min) — the standard ranking metric in the sport
- Coefficient (the ace points) —
position / field size × 1000; the lowest wins. The formula, with examples: how we calculate.
The values update in real time while you type; there is nothing separate to press.
Reading the results
On the race's page, the results are ordered and show:
- the position badge (#1, #2 and so on)
- the bird's name and ring
- the Field size
- the Velocity and the Coefficient (in a monospaced font)
You can delete a wrong result — press the bin, confirm.
Trainings
Trainings have a shorter flow: once you save the race details you land straight on the bulk arrivals screen, built for entering several birds' arrival times quickly.
Races and trainings on the main list
The races screen has a Races / Trainings switcher at the top of the list. Each section is split into:
- Upcoming — races dated in the future (shown as "Today", "Tomorrow", or "In X days")
- Past — races already flown
Imported results
If you import Benzing files, the results attach themselves to your existing birds by ring number, and to the race the import creates. There is nothing to add by hand.
The full detail is in the guide to importing from files.
A tip
Fill in the race distance before you add results — without it the velocity cannot be calculated. If you do not have the exact distance, put an estimate in and correct it later; the results recalculate on their own.
