If all your birds are in one loft, you do not have to do anything — the app works the same. Lofts start being useful when you have two or more locations (a home loft and a one-loft race site, say).
When they are worth using
- You have birds at different addresses, with different race distances.
- You want to filter the bird list by location.
- You imported birds that belong nowhere yet and you want to sort them out.
Creating, renaming and deleting
Open Settings → Manage lofts. This gives you the list of lofts with the number of birds in each.
- Creating: press Add loft, type the name, save.
- Renaming: press the pencil icon beside the loft's name. A dialog opens where you type the new name and save.
- Deleting: press the bin icon. If the loft is empty, you confirm and it goes. If it still has birds, the app stops you: "The loft still holds 3 birds. Move or delete them first." — you have to move the birds to another loft (or clear their loft) before deleting.
The "Unassigned" filter
After an import, new birds have no loft. To find them quickly:
- Open the bird list.
- Press Filters.
- Under Loft, choose the Unassigned chip.
Now you see only the birds with no loft. Open each one, edit it, and pick the right loft.
The loft section in the filters appears only if you have at least two lofts. With one or none you will not see it, because there is nothing to filter.

A tip
If you imported every bird before creating any lofts, that is fine. Create the lofts, then use the "Unassigned" filter to place them one at a time.
