How to find a bird quickly

Once you have hundreds of birds in the list, scrolling stops being an option. ThatPigeon gives you two tools: search (free text) and filters (precise criteria). You can use both at once.

The search bar at the top of the list takes any fragment:

  • Partial ring — type "347914" and it finds RO 2024 347914. Spaces and capitals do not matter.
  • Name — "Blue" finds every bird with "blue" in its name, with or without diacritics.
  • Breeder — searches the breeder recorded on the bird's page.

Results update as you type. The Clear search (×) button in the bar wipes the text and brings the whole list back.

Filters

Press the Filters button (to the right of the search bar) to open the filter panel. There are five categories:

Filter What you pick
Sex Cock, Hen, Undetermined
Status Active, Sold, Lost, Deceased, Retired
Role Breeder, Flyer and so on — appears only if you have birds with a role set
Loft Each loft, plus Unassigned — appears only if you have at least two lofts
Photo With photo, Without photo, Any

Every option is a chip you tap to turn on or off. You can combine chips from different categories — "Hen + Active + With photo", for instance.

The quick status chips

Above the list is a row of horizontal chips for the statuses (All, Active, Sold, Lost and so on). They work as a quick filter without opening the full panel — tap a chip and the list narrows instantly.

How you know filters are on

The Filters button carries a badge with the number of active categories. If you cannot see the birds you are looking for, check the badge.

Clearing filters

  • From the filter panel: press Clear all at the bottom.
  • From an empty list: when a filter returns nothing, a Clear filters button appears on the screen itself.
  • Search clears separately, with Clear search (×) in the bar.

A tip

Search and filter together. Filter on the loft "Loft 2", then search "2024" to see only the 2024 birds in that one place.
