Draft: reviewed line by line before open testing. Don't take anything at face value.

Pedigree PDF and QR code

You have filled in the pedigree and you want to send it to somebody — a buyer, the club, or the WhatsApp group. ThatPigeon produces a clean PDF, ready to share.

Generating the PDF

  1. Open the bird's page.
  2. Press Pedigree.
  3. In the top bar, press the PDF button.
  4. You land on the options screen — choose what to include.
  5. Press Generate PDF.

The app builds the PDF and opens your phone's share menu: WhatsApp, email, Bluetooth, or save to files.

What you can include

The generate screen has five switches:

Option What it does
Show photo Puts the bird's photo in the corner of the PDF
Show breeder Shows the breeder's name for every ancestor
Show pedigree notes Includes the pedigree notes from each box
Show COI Shows the coefficient of inbreeding
Show owner contact Puts your own name on the document

Choose what suits the occasion. Selling a bird, you probably want all of it on. Checking a bloodline for yourself, you might turn off the photo and the owner.

The QR code

If the bird is set to public, the PDF automatically carries a QR code pointing at the bird's public page on the web. The buyer scans it and sees the live record, with the pedigree as it stands today — not a static PDF that ages.

To turn the public page on: open the bird's page → Edit → switch Public on. More in the guide to public birds.

Format and quality

The PDF is generated at high resolution, ready to print on A4, upright. The tree shows up to six generations and reads clearly on a screen and on paper. A generation with no ancestor recorded in it is not printed: under the tree, the sheet says where the line stops. The colours follow the app's own identity, so it looks professional without your having to do anything.

How many PDFs can I generate?

As many as you like. There is no generation limit and there are no credits: you are never charged per document. Generate one today, generate another tomorrow when you have filled in one more generation, generate it again. What will and will not ever sit behind a price is on principles.

A tip

Fill in the Breeder and Pedigree notes fields on each ancestor before you generate — every generation you link appears on the sheet, up to the sixth, and an ancestor nobody recorded leaves an empty box. Even partial information, just the ring and the breeder, gives the document more weight.
