Draft: reviewed line by line before open testing. Don't take anything at face value.

Why

There are fanciers keeping their records on paper or in an Excel file, not because they would not want something else, but because nothing on a phone has looked worthy of twenty years of notes. And there are fanciers paying for software they take no pleasure in using and cannot easily leave. I started writing ThatPigeon for them.

What I think about this market

A market with one serious option sets its own price and its own pace of improvement. Not because anybody is acting in bad faith — simply because nobody is obliged to hurry.

A second real option changes that: prices come down, quality goes up, and the fancier wins whether he switches or stays where he is. That is the part I think matters. You do not have to come to me to be better off; there only has to be somewhere to go.

The first thirty days are free, then there is a subscription. When I put a price on it, I will price it against what fanciers pay now, not against what the market would bear. And if you stop, your account stays readable and the export still works: I do not want you staying because you cannot leave.

A real alternative, not a cheaper copy

I do not want to win by being cheaper. I want to win because it is better: it works one-handed, in the loft, with dirty hands, and it holds the time exactly as your clock gives it to you, down to the millisecond. If that does not come off, no price saves it.

Choosing means being able to leave

An alternative you can get into and cannot get out of is not an alternative. Export is free with a subscription or without one, including after one ends, and you can try it before you trust me — step 5 of the five-minute check.

Built with fanciers

Every release is tried in the field by an active fancier before anybody else sees it. What he says reaches the person writing the code directly, with no form and nobody in between; some things were rebuilt for exactly one reason — "that is not how it works in the loft".

How to join the test: About.

Romanian first, because it is owed

The app is conceived in Romanian, not translated into Romanian at the end. The federations here do not all count the same way, the Columba classifications have a shape of their own, and rings are written the way they are printed on the ring — not the way it would suit a program written for another country. When somebody builds software for a big market and then translates it for a small one, you can spot it a mile off.

What is checked automatically on this count: Accessibility.

No surprises

No ads. Your data is sold to nobody. No cost turns up a year from now that was not there at the start, and nobody holds your records hostage to talk you into paying. What we collect and where the data lives is on Your data, and what binds us is in the privacy policy.

I am not saying this to point a finger at anybody. I am saying it because it is easy to promise and easy to check.

Nothing you have written down is wasted

If you have a CSV export, or you are coming from MyLoft, it imports today — not "in a future version". Which formats we read, and what columns each file has: Import and export formats.

Try it

The app is in closed testing. If you are a fancier and you want to try it, join the test — and write and tell me what does not work.
