If you are on MyLoft and thinking about moving, the most important thing is to get your data out now, while the subscription is still active. MyLoft hides your data when the subscription lapses — it does not delete it, but it will not let you see it or export it either.
Step 1: export the CSVs from MyLoft
Sign in to your MyLoft account on a computer, not in the mobile app — the export is only on the web:
- Go to the birds section and ask for the CSV export of all your birds.
- If you have race results, export that CSV too.
MyLoft's CSVs come with nine basic columns: ring, name, sex, sire, dam, colour, year, status, notes. Hatch dates, photos and detailed pedigrees are missing — those exist only in the PDFs.
Step 2: download EVERY pedigree as a PDF
This is the step most people skip, and it is the most important one:
- Open each bird that has a pedigree filled in.
- Generate the pedigree PDF and save it to your phone or computer.
- Do this for every bird with ancestors that matter to you. MyLoft keeps the detailed pedigrees only in the PDFs — the CSV does not contain them.
Yes, it takes a while. But once the subscription lapses, you can no longer generate those PDFs.
Step 3: import into ThatPigeon
- Open ThatPigeon on your phone.
- Settings → Import birds (CSV).
- Choose the CSV you exported from MyLoft.
- ThatPigeon recognises the MyLoft format on its own and shows you a preview: how many new birds it will import, and how many you already have.
- Confirm the import.
Your birds are now in ThatPigeon with everything the CSV held. You can fill the pedigrees in by hand from the PDFs you downloaded, and OCR import straight from the PDF is coming.
What you get
- Your data stays yours — free CSV/JSON export at any time, subscription or not.
- One subscription — when it arrives, you will not pay separately for web and mobile the way MyLoft charges.
- No pedigree credits — generate as many PDFs as you like, with no per-document charge.
What happens to race categories
MyLoft's results CSVs carry each race's category (Viteză, Demifond, Fond and so on). ThatPigeon maps them on import — including "Demifond+Fond", which becomes Middle/Long, and "Mare fond", which becomes Marathon.
That means imported results already have their categories set and go straight into the RNC norms calculation. The only step left for you is to attach a bird to each result, because MyLoft's results CSV does not contain ring numbers.
If you imported results a while ago, before the app supported categories, you can re-import the same file. Existing races will pick up their categories, and duplicate results are not created again. All eight categories are covered in race categories.
